After teaching in public school for 32 years, I entered the real estate profession in 1981, at a time when interest rates were 16% and 17%. In my first year, I was named to the Athens Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club and won the New Face of the Year Award. From 1982 to 1983, my annual sales went from $2 million a year to approximately $4 million, increasing sales $1 million a year. The first lady ever to be awarded life membership in the Athens Board of Realtors Million Dollar club , produced gross sales of over $18 million in 1998 with net sales of 13 million.
