As one of the first residents of Maumelle, along with his parents, Doug was exposed at an early age of all aspects of the industry, including building, development, buying and selling. His grandfather, Jess Odom, started the dream by founding Maumelle in the late sixties. Doug spent his childhood watching the development of Maumelle, as well as being involved in home building through his mother, Gayle Odom, who has built hundreds of homes in and around the central Arkansas area. Having grown up in Maumelle, it was a natural progression when Doug, his wife Shannon and daughter Allie bought their first home in Maumelle in the late nineties, desiring the same neighborhood living for his daughter that he had. Doug built homes with his mother and on his own for several years before taking a job in the engineering department of a local firm doing the same kind of detail work he was so familiar with throughout his building career. However, after five years, he decided to go back out on his own, and fulfill the longtime dream of working with his wife. So, in the new millennium Doug went back to school to get his real estate license. He began a new phase working with his wife and mother at Gayle Odom and Associates, the company his mother formed in 1996 which uses the "Team" concept to help clients buy, sell and build real estate in and around the Maumelle area. In his first eight months as a Realtor, he gained the title of Million Dollar Producer, no small feat for anyone in such a competitive market. In 2002, Doug again achieved Million Dollar Producer status, listing and selling over $2 Million in Real Estate in the central Arkansas area. Today, Doug enjoys balancing his time between work, community and family. He has coached Allie in soccer, and continually brings new residents to the town he calls home. In 2002, he was featured in Homes and Land magazine, touted as a "family man".
